It was a busy summer season with several Public Service Events and we still have a few to support.
The Technical Committee is busy setting up repeaters and making sure that everything is working properly prior to the up coming fire season. The NHARC works closely with the Lead Volunteer Fire Department providing assistance with communications and administrative work during various fire events.
The club also hosts and APRS Node, located on Terry Peak and operating on the frequency of 144.390 MHz. We are trying to get more interest in that mode.
Our Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is located at the Lead Volunteer Fire Department. We have one computer giving us local weather stats, another computer running the EWINN Software with a satellite link for national and local weather information. Also at the console is a Lightning detector and yet another for Internet Access.
There are phones for each line in the city, public safety radios both digital and analog. During times of heavy traffic we have two fax machines available. Of course we are all Amateur Radio Operators so we have radios for VHF, UHF and HF including 6 meters. We have a Packet Radio connection running on 145.010 MHz with connections into Rapid City, SD and the Northern Black Hills.
